The most expensive smurfs in the world.

These three Christmas Smurfs are the most expensive smurfs in the world. They were sold in January 2001 on Ebay in Germany. The "Christmas Smurf with Stocking" sold for $2,687, the "Christmas Angel Smurf" sold for $2,585 and the "Christmas Bellringer Smurf" sold for $2,500. The reason for these extraordinarly high prices is that these smurfs never made it into regular production.
The "Bellringer" was featured in a 1985 smurf catalogue but was never produced. Nobody knows how many of these prototypes were made, possibly only these single figures exist.
In December 2002 even a fake of the "Angel" was sold on Ebay in Germany for $581 clearly stating it was a fake!
Who knows when or even if any of these figures will appear on the open market again. I have heard stories of the current owners of these three being offered thousands to sell but always declining. We will just have to wait and see, any news will of course be posted here. I can dream.............
